Kudem e.V.

KUDEM welcomed CIBEDO and members of the German Bishops’ Conference

KUDEM welcomed the delegation of the Christian Islamic Encounter and Documentation Office (CIBEDO) as well as Christian dialogue representatives. A 24-member delegation from various German dioceses, together with CIBEDO representatives, visited our institution.

Among the participants were Prof. Dr. Tobias Specker SJ, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Reinbold, Dr. Alexander Kalbarczyk, Prof. Dr. phil. Dr. theol. habil. Bernhard Uhde, Dr. Timo Aytaç Güzelmansur, and other officials.

The projects of KUDEM and its affiliated institutions—founded by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin İlker Çınar, whose works are familiar to some of the visitors—were presented, emphasizing the scientific, aesthetic, and mystical dimensions of Islam. It was emphasized that KUDEM and its affiliated organizations, without any connection to institutions inside or outside the country and without receiving support from anywhere other than its own members, are committed to serving our society and humanity on the basis of knowledge and wisdom, free from superstitions, and grounded in a Qur’an- and Sunnah-based understanding of Sufism.

In the meeting, the common aspects of Christianity and Islam as well as perspectives on the spirituality of both religions were discussed, and potential future collaborations were considered. The delegation also had the opportunity to see the unique Islamic calligraphy and marbling (hat-ebru) artworks in the KUDEM collection, the KUDEM children’s library with more than 50,000 multilingual works, and Europe’s largest scientific Islamic library—with over 100,000 books.

We would like to thank all participants for this meaningful visit and their valuable contributions.
