On August 11th, a Tezhip workshop was held in the art studio of KUDEM. The participants received a comprehensive introduction to Islamic illumination art (Tezhip) amidst the books of the KUDEM Islamic Library.
During the 6-hour workshop, which was attended by 10 art and culture enthusiasts, the basics of this art form were taught. This was followed by practical exercises, where participants learned how to transfer drawings and apply painting techniques.
After a short break with drinks and pastries, the participants worked on the main project: coloring a prepared motif. They received continuous support, both in selecting colors and mixing the desired shades.
At the end of the day, participants had the opportunity to join a tour of KUDEM to get an impression of the aims and projects. During the tour, the in-house KUDEM collection was presented, featuring unique pieces of calligraphy and Ebru art, as well as the largest Islamic library in Europe, which houses over 100,000 books. KUDEM extends its heartfelt thanks to all participants, some of whom travelled long distances to attend.
