We are deeply saddened by the loss of our member of the IFIS&IZ scientific advisory board Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. Raif Georges Khoury. We bid our farewell with our heartfelt thankfulness and great respect to a special person, international esteemed scholar, and a great supporter of the KUDEM and IFIS&IZ.
Professor Khoury thaught about 45 years Islamic science at the University of Heidelberg and wrote during his academic career numerous of scientific contributions. He educated dozens of students and scientists, among them Professor Dr. Hüseyin İlker Çınar (IFIS&IZ Founding Director), with whom he had maintained a good friendship. Professor Khoury was an important link between the Western world and the Orient and embodied the dialogue between both cultures.
